Safeguarding Training Programmes Strengthen Awareness across the Diocese

Safeguarding Training Programmes Strengthen Awareness across the Diocese

A series of Safeguarding Training Programmes were successfully conducted across the Diocese at KDDC (28 February 2026), Yellapur (14 March 2026), Kirwatti (15 March 2026), and Bishop’s House, Shirwad (22 March 2026), reaching over 230 participants from various parishes, youth groups, and religious communities.

The sessions were led by Fr. Steevan Dsouza and resource persons with expertise in safeguarding, focusing on creating safe and nurturing environments for children, youth, and vulnerable adults. Through interactive presentations and discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of safeguarding principles, roles and responsibilities, reporting procedures, recognition of abuse, risk assessment, and practical preventive measures.

The programmes were inaugurated and supported by diocesan leaders and clergy, who emphasized that safeguarding is a shared Christian responsibility rooted in dignity, respect, compassion, and accountability. Participants were encouraged to become vigilant and proactive in promoting safe spaces within parishes, institutions, and communities.

The training programmes concluded with words of appreciation, prayers, and fellowship, strengthening the collective commitment to fostering a culture of protection and care throughout the Diocese.
